40-tonne reduction in CO₂ emissions per year for Thermapen
The Thermapen · ONE
By using Trifilon S 2099, Thermapen cut down on plastic waste and reduced CO₂ emissions by an estimated 40 tonnes annually—equivalent to driving a car for 99,010 miles.
Thermapen’s new Thermapen ONE, the ultimate kitchen thermometer, now features a chassis made from Trifilon S 2099. This material upgrade maintained the high accuracy and performance Thermapen is known for while significantly reducing its environmental impact.
The visible fibers not only highlighted its sustainable nature but also boosted Thermapen popularity, leading to rapid sell-outs. Thermapen views Trifilon S 2099 as just the first step in their commitment to more sustainable kitchen tools.

Cake · Kalk AP
As the anti-poaching efforts have a spirit of conservation, CAKE designed its bike with sustainability in mind equipping it with solar panels for recharging on expeditions in wild terrain.
The Swedish company CAKE, which makes popular designer electric motorbikes, took on a project to equip field rangers in anti-poaching efforts in the African bush. They designed the high-performance Kalk AP to help rangers cover ground quietly – the electric motor emits little sound.
And the bike needed a lightweight, strong material for its plastic components. CAKE worked with Trifilon to develop a custom R grade that fills out the bike’s eco-profile.

Very Good & Proper · Latte Chair
By incorporating Trifilon R, the ‘Latte’ chair’s CO₂ footprint was drastically reduced and no new plastic was produced to create this outdoor chair.
When the British furniture designers at Very Good & Proper (VG&P) were looking to make their debut outdoor collection, the company’s commitment to using sustainable materials was front and center. Named after the French word for the slats defining its design, the ‘Latte’ garden chair is a sustainable chair uniquely characterized by Trifilon’s specially engineered biocomposite material.
In addition, the industrial hemp fiber used to reinforce Trifilon R captures carbon from the air as it grows, which further reduces the chair’s CO₂ footprint.

Ateljé Lyktan · Superdupertube
By integrating Trifilon S, Ateljé Lyktan achieved a remarkable reduction of over 73% in CO₂ emissions compared to traditional aluminum variants.
Together with Snøhetta, Ateljé Lyktan refined every aspect their iconic 1970’s Supertube - from design to manufacturing - to minimize its environmental footprint. Ateljé Lyktan carefully considered every step
in the lifecycle, from raw materials to recycling. The Superdupertube
is not just a product; it is a statement of Ateljé Lyktan’s commitment
to sustainability and responsibility.
The Superdupertube stands as a testament to innovation, being the first project to extrude a hemp fiber reinforced biocomposite with an existing extrusion process. Among the materials tested, Trifilon’s hemp biocomposite emerged as the optimal choice due to its unparalleled strength. Moreover, the natural color of hemp introduces a captivating element - each lamp's hue will vary slightly depending seasonality of the hemp harvest.

Lyft · Green Can
The plant fibers in the biocomposite even give the canisters a desirable haptic characteristic, a warmer and more natural feeling.
Lyft, which produces a no-nicotine snuff or snus, wanted to begin working with sustainable packaging materials. Their highly-designed canister required a unique, high-performance biocomposite from Trifilon. That material forms the mechanically demanding product just as well as the original plastic recipe. But the new canisters, colored green, improve sustainability metrics, like the CO₂ footprint, dramatically.
Lyft sees this material as just the first step in a journey toward more sustainable packaging.
